DAYTON, OH, February 27, 2018 — The 10XTS development team recently participated in the global Legalhack hackathon. The team placed second in the region for their application proof of concept, building a functional blockchain application to help veterans obtain better access to their benefits.
Between mental health issues, backlogs for care, and budgetary inefficiencies, problems with veteran’s access to benefits, as well as the legal help sometimes necessary to ensure their access to those benefits, can be a challenging nightmare. This has resulted in a spike in homelessness due to untreated mental health issues, as well as premature deaths of veterans who wait for treatment.
10XTS delivered a functional proof-of-concept solution that encodes the standard Department of Defense DD-214 discharge documents to a blockchain. Many homeless lose essential records, and have benefits available to them that cannot be readily accessed due to the present disconnection between the Department of Defense and various local agencies on the front line of homeless issues.
